Visit Hang Mua Peak – Ninh Binh

Known as “Halong Bay on land”, Ninh Binh offers splendid scenery and becomes a must-see for nature lovers. When visiting the area, you can’t miss Hang Mua Mountain, the most beautiful viewpoint of Ninh Binh.

Hang Mua Mountain is located in Khe Dau Ha hamlet, Ninh Xuan commune, Hoa Lu district. To get there from Tam Coc, you can take the bicycle on a small path of five kilometers through the rice fields. In the distance, you can see the white zigzag stairs leading to the top of Hang Mua Mountain.

As for the name, legend has it that the Tran kings used to visit the area to watch the imperial maids sing and dance, giving the area its name Mua or “dancing”.

To conquer the top of Hang Mua Mountain, you will have to climb the 500 or so limestone steps on the zigzagging path adorned with stone statues of dragons and phoenixes on each side.

At the top of Hang Mua Mountain is the statue of the Goddess of Mercy Guan Yin. The inhabitants believe that the mount is under her protection and patronage. Further on is a small tower whose architecture resembles Buddhist pagodas with a square base representing earth, a round top representing water, a sloping roof representing air and the pointed decoration symbolizing fire.

When you reach the top of Hang Mua Mountain, you will have a breathtaking panoramic view of “Halong Bay”. You will be immersed in a marvelous setting, composed of forests of limestone peaks, the poetic Ngo Dong River and huge rice fields. A breathtaking landscape!

The best time to reach the top of Hang Mua Mountain is in the dry season from October to April and from May to June to see the golden rice fields stretching as far as the eye can see.

Hang Mua is one of the most amazing sites in Ninh Binh. Visit Hang Mua in the morning at dawn or in the evening at sunset. You will make beautiful photos when the whole area is bathed in golden rays.
